The Lions Gat e Nature Competition is on again this year and there are a number of chang es. The rules have been clarified inline with CAPA and there is a image size limit of 1. 8 MB.
\nThere are four categories in this competition:

\nImages have to be uploaded by October 25th followed by voting. You can vote for six images including your own image. The top six image s will be forwarded to the Lions Gate club by November 1st.
\nLook t hrough your best shots\, be certain there is no ‘hand of man’ in the image \, ensure it is less than 1.8mb and submit it. Images have a maximum widt h of 1400 pixels and maximum height of 1050 pixels.

\nThis presentation is a travelogue of an area mostly untapped by British C olumbian tourists\, the Northwest. It is an area rich in indigenous cultur e\, history\, spectacular mountains and some of Canada’s great rivers such as the Skeena\, Nass and the Bulkley.
\nIn addition to photos Gordo n will share tips on how to capture this rich indigenous culture in an app ropriate and sensitive manner. Learn how to photograph totem poles within their environment for better impact.

We will be showing our slideshows from the previous month (assignment\, f avourites and field trip).
\nBring your loonie for a coffee.
\nThere will be a brief 20-25 minute meeting of some of the SIGs people have expressed an interest in. The purpose is to t ouch base with each other and discuss objectives\, exchange contact inform ation\, decide on a date and time to get together as a group. Meetings of the SIGS will be at the discretion of the group.
\nAfter the SIGS ha ve had their meeting\, the entire group will take a look at the topic of “ Bokeh”.
\nExamples of images will be shown and discussed. Bob Christopher will lead the discussion. Our next Assignment is “Bokeh” so this will get every one up to speed for some interesting images. John Potter will also be invo lved in the discussion further explaining what we are looking for in the u pcoming images.

We will be using Jack techniques for night time photograp hy\, so bring your camera and tripod. Come fully prepared to be OUTSIDE fo r a portion of this meeting. Also\, come prepared with any ideas for SIGs you may wish to be involved in.\n\nThe agenda for the night is simple\, st art the meeting\, SIGs for 15 minutes\, review of night shooting and then head out. We won’t be returning to the Civic Centre and will disperse from the shooting location. No coffee!
