Get to Know Your Camera
If you are well-versed in your model of camera, please consider volunteering to help on March 21st for the Education meeting. Vivian will be moderating an evening of learning about your cameras and will NEED to have people to help beginners or others just wanting information about the operation of their camera model.
Our presenter this month is Brad Powell on the topic of ‘Exploring Portrait Photography With The iPhone‘.
“I will explain features and settings in the Portrait Mode for the iPhone. I will also set up a posing chair, backdrop, and lighting for people to take some shots with their iPhones”
Brad is one of our own members and you will have seen many of his photographs in our monthly slideshows. You can take a peek at his extended galleries and biography on his personal website (BPFOTO.CA).
Special Interest Groups (SIGS)
There will be a brief 20-25 minute meeting of some of the SIGs people have expressed an interest in. The purpose is to touch base with each other and discuss objectives, exchange contact information, decide on a date and time to get together as a group. Meetings of the SIGS will be at the discretion of the group.
After the SIGS have had their meeting, the entire group will take a look at the topic of “Bokeh”.
Examples of images will be shown and discussed. Bob Christopher will lead the discussion. Our next Assignment is “Bokeh” so this will get everyone up to speed for some interesting images. John Potter will also be involved in the discussion further explaining what we are looking for in the upcoming images.

Night time Photography & Interest Groups (SIGS)
Rick Horte is planning on having a “Night Shoot” following Jack Harynuk’s talk from the General Meeting. We will be using Jack techniques for night time photography, so bring your camera and tripod. Come fully prepared to be OUTSIDE for a portion of this meeting. Also, come prepared with any ideas for SIGs you may wish to be involved in.
The agenda for the night is simple, start the meeting, SIGs for 15 minutes, review of night shooting and then head out. We won’t be returning to the Civic Centre and will disperse from the shooting location. No coffee! Photos from the night shoot to be sent to Rick Horte at rjhorte@shaw.ca I’ll attempt to show them at the General Meeting in April.
Ensure you are warmly dressed
