What we have going on…
Our general meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month in the West Hall of the Qualicum beach Civic Centre from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm. We normally conduct the club’s business, then review the slideshows from the previous month’s assignment, field trip and favourite shot of the month. The last half of the meeting is dedicated to having a speaker come and make a presentation or discuss some aspects of their photography
Looking forward to this meeting
Our speaker this month is recent club member Tom Truss. Tom moved here from Langley last year and joined last fall.
Tom was on a trip to Iceland a few years ago and has spoken about his trip in the past. There will be some wonderful images of Iceland and auroras. His image o Vestrahorn Aurora in the Lions Gate Nature competition placed second in the landscape category

A very interesting evening
Our speaker this month is club member David Cotton.
David is a long term member and former board member of the club. David recently won awards in Qualicum Beach’s Our Town photography contest. David embarked on a very interesting long term project over the past two years and will talk about his photography and thoughts on Grandon Creek During the Pandemic

Coffee and tea service is resumed for this meeting. Bring your loonie for a coffee.

AGM
Our Annual General Meeting night is on Tuesday May 3rd.
Elections for our new management team will be held at this meeting. Our slideshows from the month of April will be run and Rick Horte will conduct the elections.
Remember that all positions are open, we are all volunteers on the board and we all welcome the opportunity for new members to join us and bring their new ideas.
We will have Olivia Mah the Tech Manager from London Drugs talking to us about the
offers and services from London Drugs. The new equipment that is coming along and some thoughts on making our camera bags lighter. There will also be some demonstration gear to see some new stuff.

Astrophotography
Our speakers this month are coming from the Nanaimo Astronomy Society – https://www.nanaimoastronomy.com/
Chris Boar and Tony Puerzer are well known photographers with a keen interest in astronomy. They will be speaking about this aspect of their photography and the activities they organize through their club.

Our speaker this month is Kerry Dawson, a Comox based teacher and photographer – https://www.kerrydawsonphoto.com/ Kerry’s presentation is entitled, “The Importance of Creative Personal Projects in Photography”.
