March Field Trip
Mar 19 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

In keeping with the Wildlife theme for the month, the field trip is to the North Island Widllife Recovery Center.  Located in Errington, BC on Vancouver Island in Canada, the North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre is a world class wildlife rehabilitation facility specializing in the rehabilitation of black bears and raptors.

Notes

I’ve written to the NIWRC requesting that a volunteer raptor handler be  present to show  us the birds outside enclosures, so that we might get some unobstructed shots. I’ve yet to hear back as to whether their have managed to find a volunteer. However, I’m excited about the prospects.

Also, there is a small charge for entry to the Center.

Lunch is planned for Cuckoos Restaurant for 12 noon.  Cuckoos is in Coombs at the Old Country Market

With his camera and computer software he creates impressionistic images of a world often overlooked by the casual observer.

Larry is a Certified CAPA Judge and is called upon frequently to critique and judge images in various competitions, both local as well as international. He enjoys sharing his enthusiasm for photography and teaches Level One and Level Two Photography Courses for the City of Surrey, Parks and Recreation.

He has been honoured with the CAPA Fellowship (FCAPA) designation, and is actively involved in promoting photography throughout the region. He serves the photographic community as the President of the Canadian Association for Photographic Art (CAPA).

Larry is visiting with his wife Hazel who is an accomplished artist and photographer.  You can view a recent article they wrote for the CAPA Magazine (here).

May Meeting – Annual General
May 1 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Our Annual General Meeting night is on Monday May 1st; there was a scheduling issue with the the Civic Centre and the day was changed.

Elections for our new management team will be held at this meeting. Ed will offer his final message and we will hear from each of the management team. Our slideshows from the month of April will be run and then Ed will announce our photographer of the year and conduct the elections.

Remember that all positions are open, we are all volunteers on the board and we all welcome the opportunity for new members to join us and bring their new ideas.  Once the new team has been voted in,  announced and introduced we will have a social evening.

As a BC Society, we are required to review the rules under which we operate (check here). Take this opportunity to meet with the new group and discuss any changes that you think would offer improvements to any aspect of the club’s activities.
