We are participating again this year and we’re taking a slightly different approach. You’ll be able to upload 3 images in any of the categories. Also, voting will be open until early November and you will be permitted to vote for your own image. Since only one image per member may be submitted, there will be some additional judging to choose the top 8 images.
As a club we did well in 2016 and placed third in mammals. We’ll try to do better this year.
The categories are:
Look through your shots and be certain there is no ‘hand of man’ in the image. Images have a maximum width of 1400 pixels and maximum height of 1050 pixels. Images have to be uploaded by October 21st.
When the current year rules are prepared, they will be added. Click on the image or here to see the rules

Our speaker this month is portrait photographer Lisa Graham. Her interest in fashion and lifestyle photography on land slipped into the underwater realm where few photographers venture. She specializes in the niche market of underwater fine art portraits and she loves how water adds a surreal touch to everyday elements
Lisa is going to share her some images from her “Impossible Worlds” collection and talk about some of the aspects of an underwater photo shoot.

Our major exhibit of the year opens officially on November 1st with a reception at 2:00 pm. There are about 40 images on display from our members.
Ron Hadley, who is a regular with Tosh’s Sunday music, will be playing piano during the reception.
Encourage your friends and neighbours to come out and visit this very exciting exhibit for the club.
Our speaker for November is Gordon Howe. His presentation is “From Sea to Sky- A natural history journey from British Columbia to the high deserts of the American southwest.”
Gordon is a prize-winning photographer who has lived all over British Columbia. He currently resides near Nanaimo on Vancouver Island.
He attended the School of Modern Photography and has worked professionally as a Portrait and Wedding Photographer. Throughout his life Gordon has always had a camera in hand but his love of photography was shared with a love of horticulture and landscape design. Both of these disciplines share a need for a comprehensive understanding of light, colour and composition. Training in both fields has served to complement each other.
We will be showing our Favourites from October, our field trip outing to the Raptor Centre and the Fall Colours assignment

This month is our Christmas social evening. We are repeating last year’s approach and assisting the Food Bank.
You know that we are trying to be more connected to the community and with that in mind we are asking that you, if you are able, bring a donation for the Food Bank. The Food Bank prefers receiving money and they have excellent buyers. Nick Bosma will have a collection box for cash and cheques. Please make cheques to the Food Bank.
The club is providing coffee, tea and snacks.
We do not have a speaker and will have a short business review followed by slideshows of the field trip to the Bowser Antique Yard, the Emotion assignment. We will also show the Best of 2017 images that our members have sent in.
