February Field Trip
Feb 17 @ 10:30 am – 12:00 pm

NOTE:  This month the field trip is on a Saturday and is the third week of February instead of the second

This field trip will have several opportunities for some great photography with many areas open to the public and with so many areas none of them are crowded which makes it nice for us.

Our event will be going from 10:30 – noon but for your information I have listed the days complete agenda below

Heritage Faire will be running from 10 am to 4 pm at the Cumberland Recreation Centre.

Cumberland’s Heritage Faire was originally launched by a group of community volunteers in 2003 and was modeled on the folk festival that ran from 1949 to 1958 celebrating the diverse heritage of Cumberlanders. Each year over 50 families, clubs and other organizations set up displays of antique tools, unique collections, photos and demonstrations of crafts and folklore from the early days of Cumberland and the Comox Valley.

Heritage Day at the Museum is open by donation if you would like to go in and take photos there

Lantern Festival and Parade
Indoor Labyrinth at the Cultural Centre from 10 am to 4 pm.
At 6pm join the Lantern Parade from Village Square at Third Street to Village Park
Entertainment and sky lanterns at Village Park after the parade, weather permitting.

Lunch  will be at 4 Quarters Restaurant  in Cumberland

2744 Dunsmuir Ave Cumberland

It is located on the main street. (across from the Cumberland Bakery)

March Meeting
Mar 7 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Our speaker for March is Stan Novotny. Stan is a Vancouver Island-based photographer who is in love with nature and the peacefulness it brings. He has had a camera in his hands from a very young age questioning how it worked, but not really understanding the creative influence it would have on my future. Over time, his interests took him to attending workshops with some of North Americas best photographers and he has become a mentor to other photographers as he has learned and mastered his own techniques. Check Stan’s website at this location.

We will be showing our Favourites from February, our field trip outing to Cumberland and the Broken assignment.
