Hang out with fellow members for some lively discussions over coffee. Please let Libby know if you are able to attend so she can arrange for enough seating at the café.
It’s up to you to pick something you really like. Be creative, be you. Just remember to use a recent photo and to follow the rules for assignments shown on the assignments page.
Our general meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm. We normally conduct the club’s business, then review the slideshows from the previous month’s assignment, field trip and favourite shot of the month. The last half of the meeting is dedicated to having a speaker come and make a presentation or discuss some aspects of their photography
Our speaker for the upcoming meeting is our own Brad Powell. Brad is an enthusiastic speaker and this month he will be talking to us about Landscape Photography – My Favourite Tips And Techniques. Should be very exciting. Click here to see his great website.
After the club’s business we will have slideshows of our field trip outing to the Raptor Centre and our assignment for Birds! Should see lots of feathers!
We all enjoyed a great presentation from Brad and all learned something about photography. Brad was kind enough to share his presentation with us. Click on the image below and it will be downloaded
We generally meet at the venue at 10am and shoot until 12 then those who wish to do so gather at the chosen lunch venue. Check the details for the field trip outing.
Meet with other members and try a range of different shots. Test some new post processing techniques. Pick about 6 of the most interesting and size them to within 1600 pixels wide and 1200 pixels high. When you have your field trip photos ready, send them to fieldtrip.opc@gmail.com
At Craig Bay Heritage Site and Museum it’s all about the details: both the buildings and the items within them invite examination through a camera lens. Photography from 10am until noon, then lunch at Boston Pizza in Parksville. Please let Sally know if you’ll be coming to lunch so she can reserve enough seats.
The BC Summer Games will be held in Nanaimo from July 17 to 20th in Nanaimo and surrounding areas. Several of our members have volunteered to participate as photographers for various events and medal presentations. Click on the image to connect to the BC Games website.
Over 3,000 volunteers are needed to make the games a success.
