June’s Assignment is an opportunity to lash out with colour and your imagination. Your choice or both a sunrise and sunset.
Symmetry in photography is achieved when two halves of an image hold the same weight and give a perfect balance between two sides of your photograph.
Our general meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month in the West Hall of the Qualicum beach Civic Centre from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm. We normally conduct the club’s business, then review the slideshows from the previous month’s assignment, field trip and favourite shot of the month. The last half of the meeting is dedicated to having a speaker come and make a presentation or discuss some aspects of their photography

The Lions Gate Nature Competition is on again this year and there are a number of changes. The rules have been clarified inline with CAPA and there is a image size limit of 1.8 MB.
There are four categories in this competition:
Link to the CAPA checklist for each category
Link to the Lions Gate specifications
Images have to be uploaded by October 25th followed by voting. You can vote for six images including your own image. The top six images will be forwarded to the Lions Gate club by November 1st.
Look through your best shots, be certain there is no ‘hand of man’ in the image, ensure it is less than 1.8mb and submit it. Images have a maximum width of 1400 pixels and maximum height of 1050 pixels.
This is a unique opportunity for the photography produced by your members to be judged by some of the best nature photographers in Canada.
